●Dipu Village

Di Pu village is on the east of Tong Lu, with a population of over 2300, mostly from family Shen Tu. The village was first built in the South Song Dynasty about 900 years ago. The wells dug then, as well as the drainage system built in Ming Dynasty, are still in use. More than 40 ancient buildings are well preserved. These buildings used to function as stone memorial archway, ancestral hall, Buddhist temples, and residential houses in Ming and Qing dynasties. In the recent construction, Di Pu village inherited the traditions and made “filial piety, traditional operas, ancient paper-making skills, and the ancient trees” four cultural features of the village. By making the full use of the local resources, the villagers created a bunch of eye-drawing featured tourist attractions, such as “Cattle Pen Cafe”, “Flower Sea Cosplay”, and “Pig Sty Tea-house”, etc. The villagers are set onto the path to affluence without leaving their hometown.

●Huanxi Village

Huan Xi village is part of the origin of Dong Wu culture back in the Three Kingdoms era in late Han Dynasty. There are 2000 people in the village, 90% of whom are from Zhou family, the descendants of Zhou Dunyi, a renowned Confucianism philosopher in the North Song dynasty. The village got its name from the two clear creeks, Tianzi Yuan and Qing Yuan running around the village, meeting at its entrance, and surrounding it from three sides. In the recent years, the village is cleaned up and its environment is greatly improved. As a result, the village has been awarded one of the High Livability Villages by the nation’s Department of Housing Construction. Meanwhile, the village has set up an Ailian Reading Club, has constructed the Cultural Hall, and tries its best to promote the“Lian (lotus) culture”.

The village has planted over 500 mu lotus ( about 333,333 square meters), opened B&B(breakfast and bed) hotels, and developed a series of souvenirs themed with Lian. It is now a well-known lotus village.
